Privacy policy

What we collect

• Analytics (PostHog, US cloud). Page views and product events such as searches submitted, filters applied, hostels saved and clicks to our partner. We send coarse values (for example the number of nights as a range), never names, emails or what you type. Analytics run without cookies: identifiers live in memory and disappear when you close the tab. We honour Do Not Track.
• Saved hostels. Stored only in your browser’s local storage on your device. We never receive this list.
• Partner links (Partnerize, Travelpayouts). When you click through to a booking partner, the link passes through the partner’s affiliate network (Partnerize for Hostelworld, or Travelpayouts) so the partner can attribute a booking to us. A Travelpayouts script on our pages may convert partner links into tracked links. The partner and Travelpayouts process data under their own privacy policies.
• Hosting (Cloudflare). Our host processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell personal data, we don’t ask you to create an account, and we don’t take payments.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of personal data we hold. Because our analytics are cookieless and don’t identify you, we usually hold no data that we can link to you.
